But what does that mean?
Here’s a bit more information that will help you understand what goes into our products and why our range is a better choice for you and our planet.
Collapsible content
Alkaline Salts
What does it do?
These are natural ‘solvents’ – their role is to soften oily dirt so that it can be more easily removed.
Why is ours more sustainable?
Cleaners normally use volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) like kerosene, ethanol or acetone. They are often skin irritants and, when used, cause air pollution.
Our solvent alternatives are naturally derived alkaline salts that are non-polluting and non-irritating, but work just as well at softening and solubilising oily dirt.
Surfactants
What does it do?
These are compounds that lower the surface tension between the water in the cleaner and the oils in kitchen and bathroom grime. They enable the water to creep under the oil and lift it up then wrap it up in an emulsion that can be washed away.
Why is ours more sustainable?
Many surfactants are petroleum derived. We use naturally derived surfactants from ingredients found in plants such as coconuts.
Chelating Agents
What does it do?
These are ingredients that ‘soften’ water – wrapping themselves around the calcium and magnesium in the water to neutralise them. Those minerals would otherwise reduce the efficacy of the surfactants.
Why is ours more sustainable?
This is simply citric acid and sodium citrate from citrus fruit.
Fragrance
What does it do?
Makes everything smell nice and clean.
Why is ours more sustainable?
The natural fragrances we use don’t just smell good, they have been chosen to help kill harmful germs and reduce the bad odours germs produce.
Humectants
What does it do?
These ingredients attract moisture from the air onto your skin to help maintain a healthy moisture level. This is important to stop sensitive skin from drying out after contact with cleaning formulations.
Why is ours more sustainable?
The plant derived humectant we use is clinically proven moisturising benefits which helps to minimise harmful effects on the skin.
